ScaleXY Labs
How organizations work, and how they change
We explore organizational design, operations, enterprise software, and the technologies opening new ways to operate. AI is one of them. We start with the problems.
Why ScaleXY Labs?
ScaleXY Labs is where we explore how organizations operate, where work breaks down, and what new technologies make possible. Every piece starts as a rough idea. We sharpen it through conversations with operators. It changes as we learn.
ScaleXY Labs exists to understand how organizations evolve and find the enduring problems worth building companies around. We begin with organizations, not technology. Our job is to understand what breaks before anyone rushes to a solution.
If you're trying to make sense of how work is changing inside real companies, this is for you. Read to challenge your own assumptions. Reach out if you see something we're missing. Thoughtful disagreement makes everything here better.
Writing
Current Thinking
These are questions we're still working through. Not conclusions. Read them, push back, and watch them change.
The Agentic Organization
Explores what might change when organizations begin treating AI agents as workers, not tools, and what that could mean for coordination, governance, and software design.
In Progress
The Agentic Enterprise Stack
An early attempt to map the infrastructure layers that might be needed to run organizations with both human and AI workers.
Systems of Record
Examines whether enterprise software's role shifts from recording work to executing it, and what a new system of record might look like.
Organizational Bottlenecks
Asks which organizational constraints could become the binding limits as autonomous execution scales.
Enterprise Market Map
A working map of the emerging landscape, from identity to orchestration, as we try to understand where value might accrue.
Validation Reports
Periodic notes on what we're seeing that supports or challenges our predictions.
Opportunity Landscape
Explores where competitive advantage might move if foundation models keep commoditizing.
Company View
How individual companies might position within the enterprise AI infrastructure layer. Still very much in draft.
Approach
How We Think
Not company values. Just the habits we try to apply when the evidence is thin and the noise is loud.
Problems Before Technology
We look at how work actually flows before picking tools. Technology is one possible answer. It is rarely where we start.
First Principles
We break problems down to coordination, incentives, and feedback loops. Not vendor narratives. If a claim doesn't trace to something observable, we hold it loosely.
Evidence Over Assumptions
Ideas earn confidence through observation, not repetition. We say what we don't know and look for signals that prove us wrong.
Long-Term Thinking
Organizational change unfolds over years, not quarters. We optimize for understanding that still holds up a decade from now.
Change Your Mind
When evidence contradicts our view, we update. Holding a wrong idea politely helps no one.
Start a Conversation
We're not looking for leads. We're looking for people who think carefully about how organizations are changing. Enterprise leaders, operators, engineers, founders, investors. If you disagree with something here, we'd genuinely like to hear why.
